GUIDELINES REGARDING PURCHASE OF MEDICINES BY POST-ORGAN TRANSPLANT SURGERY PATIENTS UNDER ECHS

1. Please refer Min of Health & Family Welfare, Directorate of CGHS File No 715025/27/2023/DIR/CGHS dated 12 Sep 2023 & Gol (MoD/DoESW) ID No 18(12)/ 2024-D(WE/Res-I) dated 10 Feb 2025 (copy att).

2. Guidelines for the purchase of medicines in the cases of Post Organ Transplant for ECHS beneficiaries as per the details given below :-

(a) ECHS beneficiaries, who are recovering from Organ transplant surgery shall be permitted to purchase OPD medicines, based on the advice of the treating specialist for upto a period of six months, if they are not in a position to visit ECHS Polyclinic or to send an authorised representative.

(b) The reimbursement of such medicines would be considered as per the following details:-

(i) The reimbursement of restricted medicines having DGAFMS rate contract, shall be limited to the DGAFMS rates.

(ii) The reimbursement in respect of other medicines for which there is no rate contract under DGAFMS, shall be limited to 85% of MRP or actual expenditure incurred, whichever is lower (since 15% discount is the minimum discount prescribed under ECHS for local chemists).

(iii) However, products manufactured / marked as food supplement, cosmetics and ayurvedic preparations advised by allopathic doctors will not be reimbursed as per extant CGHS guidelines.

3. These guidelines will be effective from 10 Feb 2025.

4. This has approval of MD ECHS.
