Sub: Revision of Yardsticks of Mechanical Department.
Ref: This office letter no. E(MPP)2019/1/ 12 dtd. 30/09/2019.
The revised yardsticks for some of the activities of Mechanical department were issued vide letter under reference.
2. ln continuation to above, the yardsticks for Freight maintenance activities of Mechanical department have been revised provisionally, subject to variation after finalization of yardsticks for Mechanical coaching and other yardsticks for mechanical department,
Manpower Yardstick of freight maintenance activities of Mechanical Deptt
“0.10 Staff per Wagon*. The activity wise detail attached as annexure will be used for guidance in deciding the manpower.”
* per wagon will be counted as 110 . of wagons attended in the previous year.
3. Henceforth, the requirement of Manpower for the said activities should be calculated based on the revised yardsticks. The manpower for the existing assets should be reviewed, based on the revised yardsticks and excess posts, if any, may be surrendered.
4. All the clarifications/queries/references, if any, regarding revised yardsticks are to be made to Mechanical directorate, Railway Board.
5. This supersedes all earlier instructions on the yardsticks for above activities, issued in past. This includes provision for leave reserve and rest givers.
6. It may be noted that post creation is banned at present in view of directions of DoE, Ministry of Finance as already circulated earlier.
7. This issues with the concurrence of Finance Directorate of the Ministry of Railways.
