VACANT POSTS OF SECTION OFFICERS IN CSS

282 SHRI SUSHIL KUMAR GUPTA:
Will the PRIME MINISTER be pleased to state:

(a) whether it is a fact that a body representing the Central Secretariat Service officers has written to the Department that around 45 per cent posts of Section Officers of CSS are lying vacant because many officers have not been promoted since 2013;

(b) whether it is also a fact that the Prime Minister had announced in June that the existing 10 lakh vacancies in Central Government Departments will be filled in mission mode till 2023; and

(c) if so, the present status in this regard?

ANSWER

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF PERSONNEL, PUBLIC GRIEVANCES AND PENSIONS AND MINISTER OF STATE IN THE PRIME MINISTER’S OFFICE (DR. JITENDRA SINGH)

(a): There is an overall shortage of officers in the grade of Section Officers of Central Secretariat Service (CSS). As of July 2022, over 8000 Central Secretariat Service (CSS), Central Secretariat Stenographers Service (CSSS) and Central Secretariat Clerical Service (CSCS) officers have been promoted, and pendency since 2013 have been cleared paving way for promotions at a large scale. Only vacancies that are subjudice, are pending subject to final decision.

(b) & (c): As part of Mission Recruitment, Rozgar Mela being held across the country, over 1.47 lakh new appointees were inducted in various posts across Central Ministries/ Departments/ PSUs/ Autonomous bodies/ Banks etc., so far.
