Central Secretariat Service (Amendment) Rules, 2022: Amendment in Rule 21 and Rule 23 of Central Secretariat Service Rules, 2009

NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, 22nd September, 2022

G.S.R. 721(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to article 309 of the Constitution, the President hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Central Secretariat Service Rules, 2009 namely:-

1. Short title and commencement.-(1) These rules may be called the Central Secretariat Service (Amendment) Rules, 2022.

(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

2. In the Central Secretariat Service Rules, 2009, –

(i) in rule 21, after the word “regulation”, the words “in consultation with the Commission”, shall be inserted;

(ii) for rule 23, the following rule shall be substituted, namely:-

“23. Power to Relax.-Where the Central Government is satisfied that the operation of any of these rules and the regulations made thereunder causes undue hardship in any class or category of persons or posts, it may dispense with or relax, in consultation with the Commission, the requirement of the rules and the regulations made thereunder to such extent and subject to such conditions, as it may consider necessary”.

Note: The principal rules were published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part (II) Section 3 Subsection (i) vide notification number G.S.R.140 (E), dated the 27th February, 2009.
