Will the Minister of CULTURE be pleased to state:
(a) whether 30 per cent of posts under various grades are vacant which must be at the cost of responsibilities attached to Archeological Survey of India (ASI);
(b) if so, the details of vacant posts falling under promotion and direct recruitment quota, post- wise;
(c) the time period by which promotion quota posts under each category are likely to be filled; and
(d) the reasons for keeping the promotion quota posts vacant when DOP&T 2017 guidelines exist to undertake an exercise to draw a panel of departmental officers through DPC in anticipation of vacancies in the preceding year itself for timely promotion of departmental officers?

(a) (i) Under promotion quota 5 per cent posts are vacant.
(ii) 30 per cent posts are vacant under Direct Recruitment quota which are done through UPSC/SSC.
(b) & (c) The details of vacant posts falling under promotion and direct recruitment quota post- wise are at Annexure.
(d) Posts in promotion quota are lying vacant as officers are not eligible for promotion since they have not completed the requisite qualifying service.
