Sub:- Celebrations of the 75th Anniversary of India’s Independence from 12th March 2021 -“AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV”.

Please refer to DG/HR’s DO. letter of even number dated 11.03.2021 vide which it was requested to celebrate the event of 75th Anniversary of India’s Independence – “AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV” in a grand manner across the Indian Railways.
Government of India has decided to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of India’s Independence in a befitting manner at National and International level. Although the major events under the commemoration are proposed to be organized from 15th August 2022 to 15th August 2023, curtain raiser activities are to be held from 12th March 2021, 75 weeks prior to 15th August, 2022.
A National implementation Committee headed by Hon’ble Home Minister has been constituted to chalk out policies and planning of various events to be undertaken under the Commemoration. Two meetings of the National Implementation Committee on 25th November 2020 and 25th February 2021 and 5 meetings of Committee of Secretaries (SGOs) have been held where large number of activities and programmes have been finalized.
It has also been decided to celebrate anniversaries and centenaries of famous personalities including those connected to the freedom movement like 125th Birth Anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, 150th Birth Anniversary of Shri Aurbindo, 250th Birth Anniversary of Raja Ram Mohan Roy and Birth Centenary of Shri Satyajit Ray as part of commemorative activities under the 75th Anniversary of India’s Independence. The inaugural event under the Commemoration was organized at Sabarmati Ashram on 1ih March 2021 when Hon’ble Prime Minister flagged off “Freedom March” from Sabarmati Ashram to Dandi as a mark to pay homage and respect to large number of freedom fighters who laid down their life during the freedom struggle.
In this regard, a calendar of activities from March to June has to be prepared which is to be collated by the nodal Ministry viz: Ministry of Culture to be presented before Hon’ble Home Minister. Hence it is requested that the desired information/ calendar of activities including the photographs of the events being organized by the Railways/PUs for the celebration of 75 years of India’s Independence are uploaded by the respective Zonal Railways/PUs on the website of Ministry of culture – secy [email protected].
The information/calendar of events/photographs which will be uploaded on the website of Ministry of culture may also be sent to Board’s office via email: [email protected].
