It may kindly be recalled that vide RBA letter ibid, Ministry of Railways had permitted use of SBI card for disbursement of imprest to the various imprest holders. This scheme was approved by the Controller General of Accounts, Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance keeping in view Government of India’s impetus for proliferation of RuPay Card. Board, vide letter of even no. dated 31.12.2020 , has requested State Bank of India to convert the existing Imprest Card into SBI RuPay Card (copy enclosed).
Taking this opportunity, it is advised that all the Officers/Staff may also be facilitated to get their Debit/ATM card attached to their Salary Account converted to Ru Pay based Debit Card. Necessary action in this regard may be advised to this Office.

Dear Madam,
Indian Railways has permitted use of SBI Card for disbursement of imprest to the various imprest holders. This scheme was approved by the Office of Controller General of Accounts, Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance, New Delhi. This scheme is in vogue since December’2012 and at present there are several imprest holders across Indian Railways wherein the recoupable imprest is regulated through SBI imprest card. Consequent upon GOl’s push to give impetus to RuPay card. it is desired that the SBI Imprest card may be replaced by SBI RuPay based imprest card at the earliest. Railways are also being advised in this matter to he in readiness to switch over to this system.
Please give this Top Priority and also early feedback on action taken in this matter. This exercise may kindly be completed by 31.1.202 I .
