Postgraduate Medical Education Amendment Regulations 2020: Recognition of Department for training of Post Graduate, other specialties for Degree and Diploma courses

BOARD OF GOVERNORS IN SUPER-SESSION OF MEDICAL COUNCIL OF INDIA

NOTIFICATION

New Delhi, the 18th August, 2020

No. MCI-18(1)/2020-Med./114782.—In exercise of powers conferred by Section 33 of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 (102 of 1956), the Board of Governors in Super-session of Medical Council of India with the previous sanction of the Central Government hereby makes the following regulations to further amend the “Postgraduate Medical Education Regulations, 2000” namely:-

1. (i) These Regulations may be called the “Postgraduate Medical Education (Amendment) Regulations, 2020.”
(ii) They shall come into force from the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

2. In the “Postgraduate Medical Education Regulations, 2000”, the following additions/modifications/deletions/substitutions, shall be made as indicated therein:

3. In Postgraduate Medical Education Regulations, 2000, Clause “11.3” under the heading of “Bed Strength in Clinical Departments”, the first paragraph shall be substituted as under:-

A Department to be recognised for training of Post Graduate students, shall have at least 60 (Sixty) beds each of General Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology and 30 (thirty) beds each for other specialties for Degree and Diploma courses, and 20 (twenty) beds each in case of Super Specialty courses except for DM (Neuro Radiology) where no beds are needed.
