Sub: Induction of Course Completed Act Apprentices in the Railways against safety category vacancies in GP 1800/- (RB-1) – reg.
The undersigned is directed to refer to your letter No. II/94-Part I dated 23rd August, 2016 on the above subject and to state that the issue raised by you has been examined and accordingly, it is advised that the selection for the limited purpose of training under the Apprentices Act 1961 is entirely different from open market recruitment, latter being conducted on the basis of open competitive examination. Moreover, short listing of applicants for training of Apprentices Act is not everywhere through writing test, but more often than not, by way of deciding eligibility for training on the basis of matriculation/ITI marks. Therefore, the contention of the Federation is misplaces.
Further, the instructions issued under RBE No.71/2016 is in pursuance of amendment of Apprentices Act. Also, since these Apprentices are qualified to perform the duties of technical posts, nothing stops them applying for such posts as and when notified by Railway Recruitment Board.
Yours faithfully,
For Secretary (Railway Board)
