नई दिल्ली: वन रैंक वन पेंशन (ओआरओपी) की मांग को लेकर प्रदर्शनरत भूतपूर्व सैनिकों ने अपना विरोध तेज करते हुए देशभर में 9-10 नवंबर को अपने मेडल लौटाने की घोषणा की है। भूतपूर्व सैनिक आंदोलन के महासचिव ग्रुप कैप्टन वी.के.गांधी ने कहा, “हमने देशभर में अपने मेडल को लौटाने का फैसला एकमत से लिया है।”
राष्ट्रीय राजधानी के जंतर-मंतर व देशभर में 145 दिनों के प्रदर्शन के दौरान भूतपूर्व सैनिकों ने अपने आंदोलन को आगे बढ़ाने तथा उसे और तेज करने का फैसला किया था। गांधी ने कहा, “सरकार हमें जो ओआरओपी प्रदान करने की इच्छुक है, वह विसंगतियों से भरी है और वह इसकी परिभाषा के अनुरूप नहीं है। विरोधस्वरूप सभी भूतपूर्व सैनिक अपने मेडल के साथ 9-10 नवंबर को देशभर में अपने जिलों में इकट्ठा होंगे।” उन्होंने कहा, “मेडलों को जिलाधिकारी के पास जमा कर दिया जाएगा और अगर वह इसे नहीं लेते हैं, तो इसे वहीं पर छोड़ दिया जाएगा। जिलाधिकारियों से मेडल की सुरक्षा का अनुरोध किया जाएगा। हम उनसे आग्रह करेंगे कि वे मेडल को या तो प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी के पास या राष्ट्रपति प्रणब मुखर्जी के पास भेज दें।”
केंद्र सरकार द्वारा पांच सितंबर को ओआरओपी योजना की घोषणा के बाद भी भूतपूर्व सैनिकों ने अपना आंदोलन जारी रखा है। भूतपूर्व सैनिकों का कहना है कि सरकार ने जो घोषणा की है, वह ओआरओपी नहीं, बल्कि ‘वन रैंक, फाइव पेंशन’ है। Read at: Rashtriyakhabar.com
OROP: Ex-servicemen to return war medals on Nov 9, 10 – India TV News Network
New Delhi: Armed forces veterans on Friday announced that they will return their medals across the country on November 9 and 10 in protest of the One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme as announced by the government.
This comes as the government is expected to issue the notification for implementing the scheme early next week as code of conduct for Bihar polls comes to an end.
The veterans are demanding early implementation as per the approved and accepted definition.
“We have unanimously decided to return our medals across India,” said Group Captain VK Gandhi, the general secretary of Indian Ex-Servicemen Movement (IESM).
“We will be returning our medals, we will observe black Diwali,” Major General (Retd) Satbir Singh, Chairman IESM, said.
“The government has not spoken to us after the announcement. If we are a burden on the government, the medals are a burden on us,” Grp Capt VK Gandhi (retd) said. Read at: IndiaTV
