THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The All-India Central Excise Inspectors Association (AICEIA) will approach the Central Pay Commission seeking resolution of issues related to pay revision. The association, whose 18th national convention concluded here on Saturday, demanded an early settlement to the pay revision dispute.
Association assistant secretary general M Chokkalingam will prepare a draft memorandum and after consultation with the central executive committee, the memorandum will be submitted to the Central Pay Commission before July 30, said the officials.
The convention discussed various issues affecting Central Excise inspectors, including the ongoing cadre restructuring and proposals with regard to all-India seniority. “The problems should first be identified within the cadre. Then after prioritising them, the resolutions should be passed,’’ said V Unnikrishnan, former president of AICEIA.
Resolutions demanding better working conditions and more promotional opportunities to Central Excise inspectors were passed at the convention. The issue of lack of promotional avenues for Central Excise Inspectors with most officers joining as Inspectors being forced to retire as Superintendents, with just one promotion in their career spanning 35 and more years, was also discussed. At the valedictory function, V Unnikrishnan, R Manimohan, Arun Zachariah, Kousik Roy and K P Manoj were felicitated.
