Sub:-Duties and responsibilities of Multi Tasking Staff — regarding.
Sir,
DoPT vide its OM No. AB-14017/6/2009-Estt (RR) dated 30.04.2010 has issued the following duties & responsibilities of the M.T.S:-
- Physical maintenance of records of section.
- General cleanliness & upkeep of the Section/Unit.
- Carrying of files & other papers within the building.
- Photocopying, sending of FAX etc.
- Other non-clerical work in the Sections/Unit.
- Assisting in routine office work like diary, dispatch etc. including on computer.
- Delivering of Dak (inside & outside the building)
- Watch & ward duties.
- Opening & closing of rooms.
- Cleaning of rooms.
- Dusting of furniture etc.
- Cleaning of building, fixture etc.
- Work related to his ITI qualification, if it exists
- Driving of vehicles, if in possession of valid driving license
- Upkeep of parks, lawns, potted plants etc.
- Any other work assigned by superior authority.
The above list of duties is only illustrative and not exhaustive. Deptt. is free to add to the list, duties of similar nature ordinarily performed by officials at this level. All the field offices of the organization may use it and take necessary action in the matter.

after this order by DOPT many mts workers are harressing by officers and seniors..officers and seniors force us to make tea and wash dirty cups and plate if you will refuse to do you will not getting chutti and harresing on duty..its big mistake by DOPT..plz
They should make necessary ammendment as the said post is filled upon the basis of 10th(matric),but in this post so many graduates and postgraduates were also apply and was selected, and even in some department this post has no chance to get promoted to higher post so the rule should be re-frame as per the issues faced by MTS…

U r right. In govt office previous things was good i.e. driver for driver job. Peon for peon job. Now officer are getting chance to harrase mts staff. They are giving any work.they are not looking what his experience/ qulification and all. Govt has to scrap MTS designation and carry out the old system.

why the working nature has not been changed till date even the MTS staffs are being recruited by SSC Pre and Mains.If u want a personal staff for doing ur personal and professional works together the stop recruiting MTS by entrance exams just hire from private authority.You Officials and bureaucrats have made this post worsts compare to others.Please guys don’t join this post .Prepare for the best than this post.Best of luck. It is the worst job in govt service. Do not join as MTS. Everybody in the office thinks you are his personal servant. You have to clean toilets, you have to make entries in registers, you have type letters and everything and your salary will be the lowest. There are no duties laid down for others drawing 50 to 60 thousand but all duties including that of a driver and watchman are yours. So take my advice do not join as MTS.
Yes u are right I have been working as Mts for 1 yr. Here everyone treat u like their personal servant, there are sweeper and toilet cleaners in our office but they are not harassed or humiliated like us. Here officers are mostly rude and insensitive to us.

if you r getting 5000 per year by central goverment than you should wear uniform if not getting any money refuse to wear uniform..
