SBI is providing Personal Accident Insurance Cover for Retired Personnel of Defence and Para Military. In this connection the text of SBI’s letter dated 27-09-2012 to DG, CRPF uploaded on BSF’s website, is reproduced here for information to ex-servicemen and ex-capf:-

Dear Sir,
PERSONAL BANKING: DEFENCE SALARY PACKAGE(DSP)/ PARA MILITARY SALARY PACKAGE (PMSP) PERSONAL ACCIDENT INSURANCE (PAI) COVER FOR RETIRED PERSONNEL
We have recently received a suggestion from Defence Forces that Personal Accident Insurance (PAI) Cover be provided to retired Defence Personnel/Para Military Personnel on payment of premium.
2. In this connection we are pleased to advise that we have recently launched a Personal Accident insurance Scheme with our subsidiary, i.e. SBI General Insurance Co. for our Savings Bank account holders available in all Branches w.e.f 10.09.2012. The salient features of the scheme are as under:
a) PAI will cover only death due to accident.
b) The cover will be for an amount of Rs.4 Lakhs.
c) The cover will be available on payment of Rs.100/- for a period of one year.
d) The scheme would NOT be applicable to serving Defence/Police and Para Military personnel etc. (Serving personnel having DSP/ PMSP Accounts with us are currently covered by our complimentary offer of PAI)
e) The maximum. age at the time of entry into the scheme should be (after retirement) 65 years. The PAI cover would be available up to the age of 80 years if the required premium are paid on the due dates of renewal.

3. We request that the scheme particulars may please be circulated to all concerned including the Rehabilitation and Resettlement Cell, Ex-servicemen’s Leagues; etc so that all retired personnel avail of the facility.
