Part-time correspondents in Prasar Bharti: Lok Sabha Q&A

Doordarshan has not engaged any part time Correspondents. The location-wise details of Part Time Correspondents working under All India Radio are given at Annexure. 
The Part Time Correspondents are working in All India Radio stations on contractual, part-time basis to assist the Correspondents and Editors posted in Regional News Units, with news inputs. They are not full time employees of Prasar Bharati and their contracts are renewed every year based on their performance. They are also free to engage in other employment/ occupation for their livelihood. The fee of Part Time Correspondents was enhanced with effect from 01.04.2010.

Will the Minister of INFORMATION AND BROADCASTING be pleased to state:-

(a) whether part time correspondents/ reporters working in Prasar Bharati are being unfairly treated;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the reaction of the Government thereto;

(c) the number of part time correspondents/ reporters working under Prasar Bharati, location-wise;

(d) whether the Government proposes to take any concrete measures to ameliorate the financial condition of the said correspondents/ reporters; and

(e) if so, the details thereof and the time by which such proposal is likely to be implemented, and if not, the reasons therefor?
