In order to provide relief to the consumers, the Government has launched sales of good quality Agmark chakki Atta under the Kendriya Bhandar brand at subsidised prices in Delhi
Prof. K.V. Thomas, Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, launched the Kendriya Bhandar brand Agmark Atta at Rs. 144.50 per 10 kg in the presence of Chairperson and Managing Director of Kendriya Bhandar and local residents here today at Kendriya Bhandar, Peshwa Road .The Atta is available in all 89 retail stores of Kendriya Bhandar in Delhi.
The Department of Food and Public Distribution, Govt. of India, has released wheat under Open Market Sale (OMS) Scheme to Kendriya Bhandar for this purpose. In order to ensure good quality, the Kendriya Bhandar Atta is Agmark certified.
On the occasion Prof Thomas said the Government is making all efforts to provide subsidised foodgrains to larger population to ensure food security. He said that the Government is considering more allocation under APL and BPL schemes besides higher release under OMS scheme. He said the Centre is also ready to allocate six months foodgrains quota to the states in advance to ensure timely availability PDS grains to the consumers. Under OMS scheme the foodgrains retail sale is made at MSP.
Kendriya Bhandar which is a Welfare Project of the Central Government is assisting the Government’s efforts by moderating the prices of essential commodities for the welfare of consumers.
Prof. Thomas, appreciated the initiative of Kendriya Bhandar by making available good quality Atta at reasonable prices to the consumers in Delhi and wished that Kendriya Bhandar shall continue to take such initiatives in future also.
