Sports quota in railway appointments
1693 . SHRI BHAGAT SINGH KOSHYARI
(a) the criteria/guidelines for reservation in appointments under sports quota for various sports in Railways;
(b) the details of appointments made under sports quota during the last three years sports-wise, category-wise and year-wise; and
(c) whether Railways propose to increase the number of posts under the sports quota, and if so, the details thereof ?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (c) OF UNSTARRED QUESTION NO.1693 BY SHRI BHAGAT SINGH KOSHYARI TO BE ANSWERED IN RAJYA SABHA ON 23.08.2013 REGARDING SPORTS QUOTA IN RAILWAY APPOINTMENTS
(a) : There is no sport-wise reservation in sports quota, allotted to Zonal Railways and Production Units of Indian Railways, for recruitment of sports persons.
(b) : Sports category-wise details of sportspersons recruited on Indian Railway during the years 2010-11, 2011-12 & 2012-13 are as under:-

(c) : The recruitment trend indicates that the number of posts given to Zonal Railways for recruitment against sports quota, is more than sufficient. Thus, there is no proposal at present to increase the number of posts for recruitment against sports quota on Indian Railways
