ANSWER
MINISTER OF STATE (RAO INDERJIT SINGH)
IN THE MINISTRY OF DEFENCE
(a)&(b): Yes, Madam. There is a shortage of residential accommodations under Married Accommodation Project (MAP) and also other than Married Accommodation (OTM) in Military Stations in the Army. There is a deficiency of 1,45,705 Dwelling Units in OTM. Married Accommodation Project (MAP) was approved in May 2002 for providing approximately 2 lakh Dwelling Units (DUs) for personnel of the three Defence Services. The project has been planned for execution in three phases. At present the Government is implementing the Married Accommodation Project for providing decent family accommodation to defence personnel. Under this project DUs with improved specifications are being constructed. Apart from construction of DUs, hiring of houses is also being undertaken for Defence personnel to meet deficiency of housing. In addition service personnel are authorized House Rent Allowance (HRA) / Compensation in Lieu of Quarter (CILQ) / Family Accommodation Allowance (FAA).
(c)&(d): Government has already formulated special policy to provide residential accommodation to defence personnel. Government has formed Apex Steering Committee (ASC) under the chairmanship of Defence Secretary with Vice Chiefs of Army, Air Force and Navy as members with full powers for sanctioning of projects.

This is a ready made answer said by Hon minister. The same answer is giving from 2002 year onwards when ever a member of Parliament asked about Jawans accommodation in loksabha…… But, no one bother about reality in Jawans accommodation problems. They already taken 14 years to complete above project…… Shame on government…….
This is an eye opening towards Defence Welfare by Politicians and Babus.
