Expected DA/DR from Jan, 2024 @ 50% – CPI-IW for Sep, 2023 released

The All-India CPI-IW for September 2023 decreased by 1.7 points and stood at 137.5 (one hundred thirty-seven point five), as per the press release by the Labour Bureau on 31st October 2023. Expected DA/DR from January 2024 is accounted for in the 3rd step with this release. This decline in the CPI-IW Index still results in a 4% increase in DA/DR from January 2024 for Central Government Employees and Pensioners, reaching 50% in the 7th CPC DA/DR. The CPI-IW index in the coming months will confirm the exact figure of DA/DR for January 2024. Expected DA/DR from January 2024 will increase to 50%, subject to further increases in the coming months’ CPI-IW.

श्रम ब्यूरो द्वारा 31 अक्टूबर 2023 को जारी प्रेस विज्ञप्ति के अनुसार, सितंबर 2023 के लिए अखिल भारतीय सीपीआई-आईडब्ल्यू में 1.7 अंकों की कमी आई और यह 137.5 (एक सौ सैंतीस अंक पांच) रहा। जनवरी 2024 से अपेक्षित डीए /डीआर को इस रिलीज के साथ तीसरे चरण में प्रवेश कर गया है। सीपीआई-आईडब्ल्यू इंडेक्स में यह गिरावट अभी भी केंद्र सरकार के कर्मचारियों और पेंशनभोगियों के लिए जनवरी 2024 से डीए/डीआर में 4% की वृद्धि आकलित है, जिसके परिणामस्वरूप 7 वें सीपीसी डीए / डीआर 50% तक पहुंच गई है। आने वाले महीनों में सीपीआई-आईडब्ल्यू इंडेक्स जनवरी 2024 के लिए डीए/डीआर के सटीक आंकड़े की पुष्टि करेगा। जनवरी 2024 से अपेक्षित डीए/डीआर बढ़कर 50% हो जाएगा, जो आने वाले महीनों के सीपीआई-आईडब्ल्यू में और वृद्धि के अधीन होगा।

Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (2016=100) — September, 2023

The Labour Bureau, an attached office of the M/o Labour & Employment, has been compiling Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers every month on the basis of retail prices collected from 317 markets spread over 88 industrially important centres in the country. The index is compiled for 88 centres and All-India and is released on the last working day of succeeding month. The index for the month of September, 2023 is being released in this press release.

The All-India CPI-IW for September, 2023 decreased by 1.7 points and stood at 137.5 (one hundred thirty seven point five). On 1-month percentage change, it decreased by 1.22 per cent with respect to previous month compared to increase of 0.84 per cent recorded between corresponding months a year ago.

The maximum downward pressure in current index came from Food & Beverages group contributing 1.10 percentage points to the total change. At item level, Fish Fresh, Cotton Seed Oil, Mustard Oil, Apple, Orange, Bitter Gourd, Brinjal, Cabbage, Carrot, Chillies Green, Ginger, Lady’s Finger, Tomato, Capsicum, Gourd, Radish, Cooking Gas, etc. are responsible for the fall in index. However, this decrease was checked by Rice, Wheat, Wheat Atta, Arhar Dal, Chana Dal, Dairy Milk, Poultry/Chicken, Eggs-hen, Banana, Grapes, Cauliflower, Garlic, Onion, Cumin Seed/Jira, Cooked Meals, Electricity Domestic, Kerosene Oil, Cigarettes, Pan Masala, School Uniform (Boys/Girls), Books School/ITI, Tuition and other Fees-College and School/ITI, etc. putting upward pressure on the index.

At centre level, Salem recorded a maximum decrease of 6.7 points followed by Udham Singh Nagar and Jalandhar with 5.8 and 5.4 points respectively. Among others, 5 centres recorded decrease between 4 to 4.9 points, 5 centres between 3 to 3.9 points, 19 centres between 2 to 2.9 points, 30 centres between | to 1.9 points and 13 centres between 0.1 to 0.9 points. On the contrary, Jalpaiguri recorded a maximum increase of 1.9 points followed by Chikmagalur and Jammu & Kashmir with 1.2 and 1.1 points respectively. Among others, 9 centres recorded increase between 0.1 to 0.9 points and centre index remained stationary.

Year-on-year inflation for the month stood at 4.72 per cent compared to 6.91 per cent for the previous month and 6.49 per cent during the corresponding month a year before. Similarly, Food inflation stood at 6.52 per cent against 10.06 per cent of the previous month and 7.76 per cent during the corresponding month a year ago.

    केन्द्र सरकार के पेंशनर जिनकी आयु कर्मशः 65,70,75 वर्ष हो गई है उनके पेंशन में 
    5%, 10% व 15 % की  बड़ौतरी के संबंध में केंद्र सरकार से शीघ्र निर्णय लेने के लिये दबाव बनाया जाय
